Edge of Eternity in PDF, EPUB, Tuebl, Mobi and Kindle:

Ken Follett's extraordinary historical epic, the Century Trilogy, reaches its sweeping, passionate conclusion. In Fall of Giants and Winter of the World, Ken Follett followed the fortunes of five international families—American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh—as they made their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements, and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution—and rock and roll. East German teacher Rebecca Hoffmann discovers she’s been spied on by the Stasi for years and commits an impulsive act that will affect her family for the rest of their lives. . . . George Jakes, the child of a mixed-race couple, bypasses a corporate law career to join Robert F. Kennedy's Justice Department and finds himself in the middle of not only the seminal events of the civil rights battle but a much more personal battle of his own. . . . Cameron Dewar, the grandson of a senator, jumps at the chance to do some official and unofficial espionage for a cause he believes in, only to discover that the world is a much more dangerous place than he'd imagined. . . . Dimka Dvorkin, a young aide to Nikita Khrushchev, becomes an agent both for good and for ill as the United States and the Soviet Union race to the brink of nuclear war, while his twin sister, Tanya, carves out a role that will take her from Moscow to Cuba to Prague to Warsaw—and into history.

Dramatic Testimonies of Near-death Experiences and VisionsVoices from the Edge of Eternity is a compilation of the words and experiences of people both famous and obscure just before their deaths. Young and old, great and small, saint and sinner—these testimonies confirm the biblical doctrines of life after death, judgment for the nonbeliever, and eternal life for those who have accepted Christ as Savior. Included are the experiences of a formidable array of witnesses, such as Martin Luther, Voltaire, John Wesley, Joan of Arc, Thomas Paine, Charles Darwin, Queen Elizabeth I, John Calvin, Napoleon Bonaparte, Peter the Great, and many more. The agreement among the accounts is remarkable in this fascinating collection of thoughts and experiences that shed light on the life that awaits us after death.

Landing on the Edge of Eternity in PDF, EPUB, Tuebl, Mobi and Kindle:

Early in 1944, German commander Field Marshal Erwin Rommel took a look at the sloping sands and announced "They will come here!” He was referring to "Omaha Beach”. The beach was then transformed into three miles of lethal, bunker-protected arcs of fire, with seaside chalets converted into concrete strongpoints, with layers of barbed wire and mines. When Company A of the US 116th Regiment landed on Omaha Beach in D-Day’s first wave on 6th June 1944, it lost 96% of its effective strength. This was the beginning of the historic day that Landing on the Edge of Eternity narrates hour by hour—midnight to midnight—tracking German and American soldiers fighting across the beachhead. The Wehrmacht thought they had bludgeoned the Americans into submission yet by mid-afternoon, the American troops were ashore. Why were the casualties so grim, and how could the Germans have failed? Juxtaposing the American experience—pinned down, swamped by a rising tide, facing young Wehrmacht soldiers fighting desperately for their lives, Kershaw draws on eyewitness accounts, memories, letters, and post-combat reports to expose the true horrors of Omaha Beach. Landing on the Edge of Eternity is a dramatic historical ride through an amphibious landing that looked as though it might never succeed.

After experiencing devastating losses of the people I loved the most, I had come face to face with one of life’s crossroads. Now, at a turning point after a series of crises, I found myself questioning my faith and asking myself if there was a God. Engaged in a battle against the enemy of humanity, I had to decide if the faith I once proclaimed to have was faith or was I merely proclaiming faith because of what my eyes were able to see and my mind understands. So I put God on trial, to see if He, the omnipotent one, would vindicate Himself.

A housekeeper for the aristocratic Fitzherberts takes a fateful step above her station, while Lady Maud Fitzherbert herself crosses deep into forbidden territory when she falls in love with a German spy. . . . On the Edge of Eternity in PDF, EPUB, Tuebl, Mobi and Kindle:

It is commonly assumed that the creation story of Genesis and its chronology were the only narratives openly available in medieval and early modern Europe and that the discovery of geological time in the eighteenth century came as a momentous breakthrough that shook the faith in the historical accuracy of the Bible. Historians of science, mainstream geologists, and Young Earth creationists alike all share the assumption that the notion of an ancient Earth was highly heterodox in the pre-modern era. The old age of the world is regarded as the offspring of a secularized science. In this book, Ivano Dal Prete radically revises the commonplace history of deep time in Western culture. He argues that the chronology of the Bible always coexisted with alternative approaches that placed the origin of the Earth into a far, undetermined (or even eternal) past. From the late Middle Ages, these notions spread freely not only in universities and among the learned, but even in popular works of meteorology, geology, literature, and art that made them easily accessible to a vernacular and scientifically illiterate public. Religious authorities did not regard these notions as particularly problematic, let alone heretical. Neither the authors nor their numerous readers thought that holding such views was incompatible with their Christian faith. While the appeal of theories centered on the biblical Flood and on a young Earth gained popularity over the course of the seventeenth century, their more secular alternatives remained vital and debated. Enlightenment thinkers, however, created a myth of a Christian tradition that uniformly rejected the antiquity of the world, as opposed to a new secular science ready to welcome it. Largely unchallenged for almost three centuries, that account solidified over time into a still dominant truism. Based on a wealth of mostly unexplored sources, On the Edge of Eternity offers an original and nuanced account of the history of deep time that illuminate

What Life Is in PDF, EPUB, Tuebl, Mobi and Kindle:

When it comes to the subject of Life, we seem to have a blind spot.Throughout the ages, the question of what Life is has been asked and answered a thousand times and invariably both the question and the answer center on Life's attributes: what it does, where it came from, what created it, what its meaning is... What you won't find is the answer telling you what Life is.We seem unable to consider Life as a presence in and of itself, independent from life forms and outside the context of alive versus dead. When you die everything that was enclosed by your skin is still there, except Life. Life has left you. But what is that thing called Life? What is it made of?Does Life have particles? If it did, wouldn't science have found them by now? Is it energy? If it is, wouldn't scientists be manipulating it? Why have we not been able to capture or isolate it?What Life Is; Dancing on the Edge of Eternity, is not an intellectual or philosophical argument, nor does it promote a religious platform. It touches the subject of Life unlike any other text, exploring the most essential question we can ask. The answer it offers is life-changing and may surprise you.
